Nagpur: Maharashtra government has approved a new plan for the Nagpur–Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway. In this updated plan, the road will now pass through Satara district, which was not part of the earlier route.
Because of changes in the route, the total length of the expressway will increase by about 50+ km. The total cost has also gone up and is now around ₹1 lakh crore.
The highway will pass through many districts like Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani, Dharashiv, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg. It will connect several important towns and talukas, making travel easier for people.
This expressway will be a big, six-lane road. It is expected to reduce travel time between Nagpur and Goa from around 18 hours to about 8 hours.
The project will need a large amount of land, and land collection has already started in some areas. Because of this, some farmers are unhappy and have raised concerns about losing their land.
The expressway will also connect many famous religious places, which can help increase tourism.
Overall, this project is important for better roads, faster travel, and growth, but it also brings some challenges for local people.
