Mumbai : BJP Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan said that the bond between Maharashtra and Mauritius is very old and strong. He praised the Marathi people living in Mauritius for keeping their culture alive even after many years.
He was in Mauritius for the foundation ceremony of the expanded Maharashtra Bhavan in Moka. This project got ₹8 crore support due to the efforts of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. People at the event thanked him and said the new building will help promote Marathi culture worldwide.
In another matter, an audit report has raised questions about a trust’s money. In 2022, its assets were ₹96 lakh, but by 2025, they increased to ₹1.81 crore. Also, fixed deposits worth ₹23.35 lakh were found in its bank account.
Because of this fast increase, police are now checking where the money came from. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Nashik is looking into the case.
At the same time, more complaints are coming against Ashok Kharrat. His police custody ends today, and he will be taken to court again. So far, 6 cases have been filed against him, including sexual abuse, cheating, and misbehavior. Police say he fooled women by claiming he had divine powers.
Now, the SIT is checking his bank records and property to find out the truth.
