New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee, leader of the Trinamool Congress, has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is following a “plan” during vote counting in the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026.
She said BJP is showing their leads first on purpose. Mamata Banerjee told her party workers to stay calm and not panic. She said they should keep fighting and not give up.
According to early trends, BJP is leading in about 190 seats, while Trinamool Congress is leading in around 99 seats out of 294 seats.
She also spoke about the voter list update (SIR) and said around 89 lakh voters were removed before the election, which she feels is wrong.
Banerjee also claimed that counting has stopped in some places and there are issues with some machines. She said central forces are putting pressure on her party.
Even though her party is behind now, she said many counting rounds are still left and the result can still change.
