Mumbai: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Jishnu Dev Varma as the new Governor of Maharashtra. This decision is part of a big reshuffle in which the Central Government changed the Governors and Lieutenant Governors of several states and Union Territories.
Jishnu Dev Varma is currently serving as the Governor of Telangana. After the new order, he will now take charge as the Governor of Maharashtra. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place soon.
The post of Maharashtra Governor had been vacant for some time. Earlier, C. P. Radhakrishnan was the Governor, but he resigned after becoming the Vice President of India. After that, the Governor of Gujarat was given the extra responsibility of Maharashtra.
Jishnu Dev Varma is a senior leader and has long experience in politics. He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023. The Central Government hopes his experience will help in running the administration smoothly in Maharashtra.
