Mumbai: Maharashtra Legislature’s Budget Session will begin on February 23, 2026. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will present the state budget for the year 2026–27 on March 6. The budget will explain how the government plans to earn and spend money in the coming year.
The decision about the session dates was taken in a meeting attended by Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil. The session will continue till March 25.
First Day for Tribute
This will be the first session after the sudden death of senior leader Ajit Pawar. Because of this, the first day will be kept only for paying tribute to him. After the Governor’s speech, both Houses will pass a condolence motion. Leaders from different parties will speak in his memory. No regular work will be done on that day.
Holidays During Session
There will be a few breaks during the session. The House will not meet from March 1 to March 3 due to Holi festival. There will also be a break from March 19 to March 22 because of Gudi Padwa and the weekend. The session will finally end on March 25.
All Eyes on the Budget
This is also the first Budget Session for Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar in her new role. Many important announcements are expected in the budget, and people across the state are waiting to see what plans the government has for Maharashtra’s future.
