Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has criticised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his comments about language protests.
Mohan Bhagwat recently said that fighting for language is like a “disease”. Raj Thackeray did not agree with this. He said loving your own language and region is natural and important.
Raj Thackeray shared his views on social media platform X. He said people who attended the RSS event in Mumbai came because they feared the government, not because they supported Bhagwat. He questioned why such programmes did not attract people earlier.
He also said Indian states were formed based on language, and this history cannot be ignored. According to him, if love for language is called a disease, then many states in India have this “disease”.
Raj Thackeray added that problems arise when people from other states do not respect the local language and culture. He said these feelings should not be taken lightly.
The MNS chief also accused the RSS of taking political sides while claiming to stay away from politics. He said the organisation should first question the government about forcing Hindi before talking about unity.
Later, BJP leader Keshav Upadhye replied to Raj Thackeray. He said people attend RSS programmes by choice and not out of fear.
