Kerala: A 10-month-old baby girl from Pathanamthitta in Kerala has become the youngest organ donor in the state. Her name was Alin Sherin Abraham. She was badly injured in a road accident on 5 February.
After the accident, she was first treated at nearby hospitals and later shifted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi for better treatment. Doctors tried their best to save her. Sadly, on 13 February, she was declared brain dead.
Even in deep sorrow, her parents made a brave decision. They agreed to donate her organs so that other patients could live. Through the state’s organ donation program K-SOTTO, her organs were quickly sent to hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram.
Her liver, kidneys, heart valve, and eyes were donated. Because of her family’s kind decision, five people — including a small child — received a new chance at life. Kerala Health Minister Veena George thanked the family for their selfless act.
Alin’s story has touched many hearts and has once again shown how important organ donation is.
