Kerala: The Kerala Story 2, produced by Vipul Shah, has become a topic of debate even before reaching theatres. The film is a sequel to The Kerala Story, which had also created strong reactions when it was released earlier.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised the movie and said it could harm the state’s image and its tradition of unity among different religions. He claimed the film shows misleading ideas and may create tension between communities.Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi also spoke against the film. He said movies like this can hurt the feelings of Muslims and may increase misunderstandings among people.
Even as criticism grows, the film has received a UA certificate from the censor board, meaning children can watch it with parental guidance. The movie tells the story of three young women whose lives change after relationships that take unexpected and serious turns. The film is set to release in theatres on February 27 and is already attracting mixed reactions from the public.
