New Delhi: Donald Trump, President of the United States, has claimed that he helped save the life of Shehbaz Sharif during military tensions between India and Pakistan in 2025.
Trump said that if he had not stepped in, the situation could have become very dangerous. He claimed that tensions were moving toward a possible nuclear conflict and that his diplomatic efforts helped avoid a major disaster. According to him, millions of lives were saved because of his intervention.
What Happened
In April 2025, terrorists linked to Pakistan carried out an attack in Pahalgam, where Hindu tourists were shot dead in front of their families. After this attack, India launched Operation Sindoor as a response.
From May 7 to May 10, both countries were involved in a four-day military clash, which increased tensions in the region.
Trump’s Statement
Trump said he spoke on phone calls with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to calm the situation. He has repeated this claim several times since May 2025 and says his talks helped bring peace.
Pakistan has supported Trump’s claim. However, India has clearly said many times that the ceasefire decision was not taken because of Trump’s involvement.
Pakistan Asked for Help
Reports also say that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan asked the United States for help after India targeted several Pakistani military bases. India said its action was taken in response to terrorism and for national security.
