Mumbai: A helicopter carrying Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, made an emergency landing at the airport in Lucknow on Saturday after smoke appeared inside the cabin.
Maurya was travelling by helicopter from Lucknow to Kaushambi for an official program. Soon after the helicopter took off, the crew noticed a technical problem. The screen inside the cockpit suddenly stopped working and smoke started coming into the cabin.
Seeing the situation, the pilot immediately decided to return and land the helicopter at the Lucknow airport to avoid any danger.
The helicopter landed safely and everyone on board, including Maurya and security staff, was safe. No one was injured in the incident.
After the landing, engineers and officials checked the helicopter to find out what caused the problem. A technical team is now examining the aircraft.
Because of the issue with the helicopter, Maurya later continued his journey to Kaushambi by road to attend his planned event there. Officials said the matter is being investigated.
