Panaji, 21 February 2026: Reaffirming the State’s commitment to the families of Freedom Fighters, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant distributed a job offer letters under the Scheme for Providing Employment in Government to the Children of Freedom Fighters at Mantralaya, Panaji, marking the completion of the government’s long-standing initiative to support their families.
The Scheme, introduced in August 2013, was designed to provide government employment opportunities to eligible children of registered Freedom Fighters. A total of 438 candidates were registered with the Home Department under the scheme. So far, 397 candidates have been sponsored for employment in various Government departments, including 261 placements made in the last five years. On this occasion, 16 candidates were sponsored, completing the employment process for all registered beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Sawant said, “We are proud to directly sponsor employment for the children of Freedom Fighters under this scheme.” He further added, “Today, I am happy to inform that all registered beneficiaries with the Home Department have been provided job sponsorship, fulfilling the commitment made in 2013.”
The programme was attended by the Chief Secretary, Shri Daat Dessai, President of the Freedom Fighters Association, the Under Secretary of the Home Department, and other senior officials.
