New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke in a simple and humorous way about why many Marathi people do not like to move to Delhi.
He said that even he was not happy when he was asked to go to Delhi as BJP president. He joked that he thought he would have to eat only aloo paratha and paneer there.
Gadkari said that Marathi people usually prefer staying in Maharashtra and do not come to Delhi easily. He said there is a “mental gap” between Delhi and Maharashtra. In a funny comment, he said you can find duplicates of everything in Delhi—even a “duplicate Nitin Gadkari.”
He was speaking at the launch of the book “Delhi Diary” by Supriya Devasthali.
Gadkari said people understand the value of their language and culture only when they go outside their home state or country. He praised Marathi language and culture and said people should travel more and spread it.

He also said that many Marathi people are working abroad, especially in the US as software engineers, but very few are in Delhi.
He added that Indians do not have a habit of writing diaries, so many things are not recorded in history. He said this book will help people who come to Delhi for the first time.
Talking about his visit to Iran, he mentioned meeting Ali Khamenei and shared a small cultural discussion about languages.
Gadkari ended by saying that Delhi is very important for politics and government work. Whether people like it or not, Delhi is the center of power, and more Marathi people should come and work there.
