Mumbai: A major case involving a fake spiritual healer from Nashik, Ashok Kharat, is currently being widely discussed across Maharashtra. So far, seven cases have been registered against him.
Speaking in the state assembly, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government is taking this matter very seriously. He appealed to people to share any information they have so that authorities can investigate deeply and take strict action. He also said the punishment should be strong enough to warn others.
Fadnavis said this case shows how dangerous blind faith can be. He explained that having belief is fine, but blind belief can make people lose their thinking ability. He reminded people that Maharashtra has a rich tradition of saints like Tukaram, Dnyaneshwar, Chokhamela, Gadge Baba, and Sevalal Maharaj, who supported faith but strongly opposed superstition.
He added that society and the government must learn from this incident. On the occasion of Ram Navami, he said he hopes true values grow in society, but fake practices like such “godmen” should not be accepted.
Talking about the law against black magic, Fadnavis admitted that some rules are still not fully completed, but the law is already being used in this case.
He also made a strong and simple point: if magic really solved problems, people like Donald Trump would have hired such people as advisors, and wars could be won with simple tricks instead of real weapons.
Overall, the government has made it clear that such fake practices will not be tolerated and strict action will continue.
