Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has given an important update about the farmer loan waiver announced in the state budget.
He said that farmers will get loan waiver up to ₹2 lakh, and it will apply to crop loans taken from any bank that is allowed to give farm loans. This means the benefit will not be limited to only nationalised banks. Farmers who took loans from cooperative banks or other approved banks will also be included.
The scheme will cover crop loans that were pending until September 30, 2025. The government plans to complete the process before June 30, and a committee is already working on the details.
The CM also announced extra help for farmers who repay loans on time. Such farmers can get up to ₹50,000 as a reward for regular repayment.
Fadnavis said the goal of the scheme is to support farmers directly and remove their financial burden, and the government will make sure the benefit reaches the right people.
