New Delhi: A major incident has been reported from Chandigarh, where a blast occurred outside an office of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday evening.
According to early reports, the explosion took place around 5 PM in Sector 37. The loud sound was heard from far away, creating panic among people in the area. Police, fire brigade, and senior officials quickly reached the spot and started the investigation.
Security has been increased, and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force have been deployed outside the office. Debris from the blast site has been collected, but the exact cause of the explosion is still unknown.
Initial information suggests that the blast happened in a parked two-wheeler, believed to be a Honda Activa, outside the office. Some nearby vehicles were slightly damaged.
Police have sealed the area and are checking CCTV footage to find out what happened. Bomb squad and forensic teams are also present at the scene.
So far, no injuries or deaths have been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
