Mumbai: Maharashtra government has taken a big decision for farmers and landowners. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that the 7/12 (Satbara) land record will be stopped in some areas.
This change will apply to villages that are now included in city limits like municipal corporations and councils. In these places, people will get a Property Card instead of the 7/12 document.
The reason behind this is that once a village becomes part of a city, the land is treated as urban land, not farming land. So, a Property Card is more suitable and legally correct.
This will make things easier for people. Buying or selling land will become simple. Getting bank loans will also be easier. Land records will be clearer and better managed.
The government will soon release an official order. After that, Property Cards will be prepared and given to landowners. This decision is expected to benefit many farmers and people living in newly urban areas.
