New Delhi: India has marked a big area in the Bay of Bengal as a “danger zone” by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). This means civilian flights are not allowed in that area for some time. Such notices are usually given before missile tests or military exercises for safety.
Reports say India may soon test its powerful missile, the Agni-IV missile. The test can happen between April 25 and May 6, 2026, and May 6 is seen as the most likely date. Experts believe this timing is important and may send a strong message to other countries.
This news comes almost one year after India’s “Operation Sindoor” in May 2025, when strikes were carried out on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Because of this, the possible test is being seen as important.
The Agni-IV missile can hit targets about 3,500 to 4,000 km away. It can carry nuclear weapons and is known for its high accuracy. It was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. It uses solid fuel and can be launched from mobile launchers, which makes it easy to move and use when needed.
A NOTAM is a notice that tells pilots about changes in airspace. It is used to stop flights in certain areas during missile tests or defence activities to keep everyone safe.
India is also working on other strong weapons like the BrahMos missile and new hypersonic missiles. These steps show that India is focusing on making its defence system stronger.
