Mumbai: A big action by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) shocked everyone at Mantralaya on Thursday. A clerk working in the office of Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal was caught while taking a bribe of ₹35,000.
The incident happened on the third floor of the main government building. After receiving a complaint, ACB officers planned a trap. The clerk had allegedly asked for ₹50,000 to renew a license. It was decided that ₹35,000 would be given first. As soon as he accepted the money, officers caught him on the spot.After the arrest, officials sealed the minister’s office for checking documents and gathering evidence. The arrested employee has been taken into custody, and further questioning is going on.
There is talk that more people from the office may be questioned. However, no official names have been announced yet.Minister Narhari Zirwal said that the clerk’s action was personal and he had no role in it. He also said that if the investigation finds any connection to him, he is ready to step down.
