Mumbai: In a major development in Maharashtra politics, Aaditya Thackeray, a leader from the Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, is likely to be given a bigger role in the party soon. According to sources, he may be appointed as the Working President of the party.
This important responsibility could be officially announced on June 19, which marks the party’s foundation day. If this happens, Aaditya Thackeray’s importance in the party will increase, and he will get more decision-making power.
Party leaders say that this move will be similar to what happened in 2003, when Uddhav Thackeray was made the Working President of Shiv Sena. A formal proposal may be presented and approved in a party executive meeting.
Over the past few years, Aaditya Thackeray has been actively involved in key decisions, from managing party organization to handling election campaigns. Many leaders believe that giving him a bigger role will bring fresh energy to the party and help build a strong new team under his leadership.
If he becomes Working President, it will mark a big step forward in his political journey. It may also signal the gradual transfer of leadership responsibilities from Uddhav Thackeray to Aaditya Thackeray.
Meanwhile, senior leader Sanjay Raut supported the idea, saying that leadership should move towards the younger generation. He added that Aaditya Thackeray and his team have performed well, especially in elections beyond Mumbai, and giving young leaders more responsibility is the need of the time.
